The divers shoes are quit heavy, they weigh about 8 kilograms a piece. They protect the feet of the diver and they allow the diver to stay on the bottom of a lake or pool while the air in the suit lifts the helmet and weights from his (or her) shoulder. Think about Archimedes law.
