The weights.

A helmet diver has two lead weights, one front weight and one back weight. They appear similar but there is a big difference. The weights are connected to each other by a jockstrap. This is to prevent the air in the diving helmet and suit from lifting the helmet off the shoulder. So the front weight is fitted with a small belt with a buckle. The back weight is fitted with a long belt and this belt should be pulled firmly between the divers legs… As you will understand, when we pull this belt the man will distinguish themselves from the boys. Always a nice moment.

The weights are attached to the nipples on the corselet by a piece of metal shaped like a keyhole. The thickened end of the nipple will prevent the weight from falling off. The weights weigh 16 kilograms a piece. So the weight of the helmet and weights on the shoulder of the diver is 58 kilograms!!!!! But don’t be afraid, this weight will rapidly diminish underwater…. Try it out for yourself.
