May we introduce ourselves?

Welcome at the site of "De Helmduiker" (translation The Helmetdiver)

We would like to take you on a spectacular trip into diving history. Without a doubt you will remember the films 20.000 leagues under the sea or the comic Kuifje and the treasure of Scharlaken.

Diving this way is still possible at "The Helmetdiver" in Holland. Since 1992 we offer people, mostly scubadivers, a chance to dive in this authentic equipment. But before you turn to the other pages we would like to tell more about ourselves:

We, Kees de Jonge and Raymond Dupont, consider helmet diving not just as a hobby. During the time it became more a way of living including the performing of several objectives. These objectives are:

• Organising and participating in historical diving events, shows and exhibitions to keep the historical diver’s heritage alive.

• Besides keeping the diving heritage alive we want to preserve and restore historical diving equipment, diving books, pictures and archives.

• To use all the knowledge and materials we have in order to educate people or orgaisations.

Since 1992 more than 1500 divers took a dive in this historical equipment. For some it was just another excursion but others became infected by the mysterious helmet diver’s virus and started to collect information and equipment. So listen to this warning…..Once you fall in love with a diving helmet, it will never let you go.
